1. Are you a film photographer or a digital photographer?
I shoot weddings using 35mm and medium format film, digital SLRs or a combination of both. You can get exactly the look you want. That’s the beauty of it!
2. OK, so what's your approach to wedding photography?
I photograph weddings in a documentary style, meaning that rather than interfere with your day, I focus on capturing unscripted moments as they happen. Don’t worry about me barging in and asking people to “hold it”, I am more of a “pretend I am not even here” photographer. I want to tell the whole story of your wedding day, unfolding and developing on its own.
3. Do you still take posed group shots?
Absolutely! I too have a mother who wants photos of the entire family looking happy and I treasure the old family photos I have of my grandparents. I will however keep it short and sweet so you and your guests can go back to enjoying your day.
4. How long will you spend with us on the wedding day?
All of my wedding packages included unlimited hours so I am all yours for the entire day. This way I won’t miss anything important and get to shake my camera with you on your dancefloor. Bonus!
5. Are we allowed to print our own photographs?
Of course. Again all packages include a disc of high resolution images complete with usage rights meaning you can print your photos as often as you like.
International copyright law states that the photographer (that would be me in this case) always retains the image copyright so you can't modify, sell or transfer your usage rights, for example to publish the photos in a magazine or enter a contest, without my permission.
6. How much post-processing will you do on my images?
All of your images will be colour-corrected making sure they are optimised for printing and on-screen viewing and I’ll tweak the contrast, tones and colour balances to give them an overall consistent look. The photos I post on my blog will be processed more extensively, which means I’ll go over each portrait making sure you look your absolute best.
7. With all this extra work, how long will it be until we see our images?
Being blessed with a generous portion of impatience myself I will always post a preview of your photos on my blog within the first week after your wedding. This is great for a sneaky look while you are away on honeymoon and to tide you over until the online gallery is up or the disc arrives at your doorstep. Generally these things happen within two to three weeks of your big day.
8. Great! So how do we book you for our wedding day?
Firstly, visit the contact page and tell me the when, what and where. I'd love to meet you to discuss all the options, find out what would work best for you and drink a lot of espresso while we do so.
Then I'll ask you to sign a contract and pay a 25% retainer in order to book your date. I can't reserve any dates without this as they are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. The remaining balance is due one calender month before the wedding.
After that all you need to do is get married!
